Keith Gruber, of Swan Lake, New Jersey, was jailed after he showed up to his DUI hearing 30 minutes late and carrying an open can of Busch beer. Sullivan County Judge Frank LaBuda asked him if he enjoyed his "liquid lunch" before sending him to jail with no bail.

What I frigg'n idiot. If I were the judge I'd have sentenced him to incarceration, along with a supply of the cheapest beer around - and let him drink and puke and drink himself to death. Then the system wouldn't have to put up with him, he'd be off the streets until he died, and I would give him no supervision - just the booze. He'd soon figure out he was either going to die, and actually care about his life, or he'd die...either way, we'd be better off. If he did care after puking his brains out so many times, I'd allow him to enter rehab...but if he didn't seem to care and all he did was drink the beer till he passed out, eventually he'd die and would no longer be a blight to society.
