A Tampa, Florida Bank of America recently asked Steve Valdez for a thumbprint even though he has no arms. He says a check was written out to him. The manager refused to cash the check. A spokesman for Bank of America says while the thumbprint is a requirement for those who don't have accounts, the bank should have made accommodations.
A New Zealand accountant was recently fired without warning for using uppercase letters in an Email to her co-workers. Her boss says the capital letters were confrontational. The unidentified woman sued for wrongful termination and won a $17,000 judgment.
A New Jersey social studies teacher was recently arrested for changing grades in exchange for money. Megan Laboy collected $1,400 from Colts Neck High School students during the 2008-09 school year. She told her students that the money was for charity. Laboy kept all of the cash and is now looking for a new job.
