The KC police recently arrested Karen Christine Downs for providing liquor and beer to six 13- and 14-year-olds at a February birthday party for her daughter. Two teens passed out and were taken to a hospital. Downs offered $10 to whoever could chug a glass of vodka the fastest. One of the girls who passed out had a blood alcohol level of .218. Officers found 70 empty beer bottles and several empty liquor bottles scattered throughout Downs' basement. One of the girls told police she had beer and nine or 10 shots of vodka.
A Norwegian church has been baptizing children in Coca Cola because water taps have been disabled due to freezing temperatures. Priest Paal Dale says he recently performed his first baptism using lemon-flavored Coke. "Only the lemon smell made this unusual. I informed the family about the lingering lemon odor. They didn't say much, but I assumed they smelled the aroma as well."
